چکیده

Background Prior studies have established that myocardial scarring increases mortality even without overt symptoms of irreversible injury, for example due to unrecognized myocardial infarction (UMI) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), or replacement scarring in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM). Previous studies have also established that scar formation may be missed by echocardiography and SPECT due to normal wall motion and/or limited spatial resolution. CMR has a high sensitivity for the detection of scar, but it is currently unknown how many patients have unrecognized scar because no large-scale studies have addressed this question.

Heterogeneity of intramural function in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: mechanistic insights from MRI late gadolinium enhancement and high-resolution displacement encoding with stimulated echoes strain maps.

BACKGROUND In hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), myocardial abnormalities are commonly heterogeneous. Two patterns of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) have been reported: a bright "confluent" and an intermediate intensity abnormality termed "diffuse," each representing different degrees of myocardial scarring. We used MRI to study the relation between intramural cardiac function and the extent...

بررسی مقایسه ای تغییرات سن و عوامل خطر قلبی در بیماران مبتلا به سکته قلبی در دو مقطع زمانی (1371 و 1381) در سه بیمارستان دانشگاهی تهران

Background: coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most important causes of mortality around the world. The mortality rate in acute myocardial infarction is about 30%. CAD risk factors change with time and there are very few studies in this field in Iran. These changes may be due to bio-environmental conditions. In this study our objective was to track these changes during a ten years peri...

Comparison of serum parathyroid hormone level between patients with acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, and normal coronary function

Background: Nowadays, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the most common causes of mortalities worldwide. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has an important role in the pathogenesis of CVDs. The aim of the current study was to compare serum PTH levels between patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), unstable angina, and normal coronary function. Methods: This descriptive and analytic stud...

The Prevalence of Overt and Subclinical Hypothyroidism in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Admitted to Imam and Golestan Hospitals, Ahvaz, in 2020-2021

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and thyroid disorders are common endocrine disorders. It seems that T2DM and thyroid gland dysfunctions are interlinked and influence each other. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of overt hypothyroidism (OH) and subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) in type 2 diabetic patients admitted to Imam and Golestan Hospitals, Ahvaz, Iran. Materials and M...

The role of oral dipyridamole stress gated SPECT in assessing the response of the left ventricle to stress: Re-evaluation of an old method

Introduction: We aimed to assess whether the vasodilator effect of oral dipyridamole on the left ventricular systolic function in patients with suspected CAD is different from that of intravenous (IV) dipyridamole using Tc-99m MIBI myocardial perfusion gated SPECT. Methods: Eighty-nine patients (17 M / 72 W; 61 ± 10 years) were enrolled in this study. The patients underwent a dipyridamole stre...
